Publication Ethics
The editorial policy of the journal "Science and Life of Kazakhstan" is guided by the traditional ethical principles of scientific periodicals, which are set out in the Guidelines for Journal Editors of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE: Committee on Publication Ethics), which include the following basic requirements:
For authors:
- The authors agree not to limit the scope of the right to use the article.
- The author(s) also grant the publisher the right to store and process their personal data (surname, first name, father's name, information about education, place of work and position) without a time limit.
- The author(s) bear full responsibility for the illegal use of intellectual property objects and copyright objects in a scientific article in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
- The author(s) agree to check the materials published by the journal for plagiarism.
- The author(s) confirms that the presented article has not been published anywhere before, has not been submitted and will not be submitted for publication in other scientific publications.
Requirements for submitted articles:
- The article must be formatted in accordance with the requirements of the editorial board, at the time of submission the article must not have been published or be under consideration in another publication, and must also contain the results of original research,
- inclusion of the results of the work of only the author/authors (inclusion of other persons is not allowed). When submitting an article, it is noted that all authors agree to publication in this journal and do not object to the order of publication of authors in the article,
- the citation list must contain only peer-reviewed sources used in the study,
- the article must indicate all sources used (including the work of the author/authors).
For reviewers:
- To ensure the quality of articles published in the journal, a two-way "blind" review procedure is used. For the reviewer, the object of review should be only the results of the obtained studies.
- Each manuscript submitted for review is treated as a confidential document. The reviewer has no right to use the material of the submitted manuscript in his publications. The reviewer can transfer material to third parties only with the permission of the editor-in-chief.
- The reviewer must provide the editorial board with an objective assessment of the work and, if necessary, offer options for improving the presented material.
- If the reviewer is not a specialist in the topic of the material, he is obliged to inform the editor about this and refuse to review the material.
For editors:
The following duties are assigned to the Editor-in-Chief and members of the Editorial Board:
- pay special attention to the qualitative composition of articles, participate in meetings of the editorial board of the journal, express their reasoned opinion on agreement (or disagreement) with the decisions of reviewers on the article, make decisions on determining the content of issues of the journal,
- to work on expanding the geography of authors, inviting specialists working in different organizations and countries to publish,
- assessment of the intellectual content of manuscripts regardless of gender, nationality, religion and other personal characteristics of the author/ team of authors.
- not to review manuscripts in cases where there are competing, joint or other interactions and relationships with authors and organizations related to the manuscript.
For the editorial board of the journal:
- The editorial board works directly with the authors of articles and does not cooperate with agencies to support authors for the publication of scientific research results.
- The editorial board is obliged to make decisions within a short time frame upon identifying facts of unethical behavior of authors, editors and reviewers.
- Unethical behavior of authors includes falsification of the composition of authors, publication of false scientific texts, their distortion, manipulation of citations, illegal borrowing (plagiarism), as well as sending materials to other publications.
- In the event of unethical behavior of the author(s) being identified during the review of the manuscript or its preparation for publication, the editorial board has the right to remove the manuscript from further consideration and terminate cooperation with the author.
- Unethical behavior by reviewers and editors of journals includes transferring manuscripts to other journals without the consent of the authors, transferring authors' materials to third parties, violating copyright, the principle of confidentiality of editorial processes, and supporting materials due to interests arising from competitive, collaborative, and other interactions and relationships with authors and organizations related to the manuscript.
- The editorial board allows the editor-in-chief, members of the editorial board and editorial staff, as well as reviewers, to publish in the journal, but they cannot apply their own rules. All articles, including articles by editors of special editions, undergo a peer-review procedure and are considered at a meeting of the editorial board of the journal.
